Day 5: The most memorable moment.

So many memorable moments of 2011, it’s honestly not even fair. It’s not fair for all the other years of my life to come cause it’s gonna be damn hard to beat this one.

However, the first one that came to mind - not necessarily the best one or the most memorable one - but the first one that came into my head was a moment that occurred at Movement’s Showcase on Saturday night.

It was the last night we were performing and the last time NJBNJB was going to perform our NJB Showcase set. I was nervous out of my mind, my hands were shaky, palms were sweaty, but standing in the beginning position of our set with all 27 of our dancers around me, I felt like I was about to go to war with these people. I remember the feeling so vividly - we were about to take on the world. Together. I remember as the curtains rose and the crowd began to cheer, I looked at each and every one of our dancers and asked them, “Ready?”. They had their backs turned to the audience, but each one smiled, nodded (slightly, of course); and in that moment, I took a deep breath and shouted, “5, 6, 7, 8” - and the loves of my Movement life all shouted back “NJBNJB, WHOO!”.

Still vividly and perfectly locked away in my heart and mind; and whenever I come across it, it fills me and I feel whole.
